This body of work, currently under the working title “Revisited: Variations on ‘The enchanted cove’ after Joaquim Mir” is a long term project (funding pending) bringing together a complex ensemble of physical as well as digital/auditory/olfactory works departing from the painting ‘The enchanted cove’ (1901) by Catalan painter Joaquim Mir.
In line with the artist’s interest in a new consciousness of human-nature relationships, the aim of the project is to invite viewers to connect to nature through an immersive, multi-sensory, idealised natural environment based on the original paintings by Joaquim Mir, inspired by Cala Sant Vicenç in its original state at the beginning of the 20th century on the island of Mallorca. The work will be contrasted with the appearance of the location today, raising questions about the heritage we as humans create through actions outside the artistic realm.
